Pastor Bradley Quick is with His Lord and Savior

Friday, August 20, 2010

Dear Family and Friends of FBC:

Our great God and Savior the Lord Jesus in His grace and mercy has called our beloved Shepherd, Dr. Bradley W. Quick to Himself. He departed this life and entered Christ’s presence the morning of August 19th. The Pastors, Deacons and their families, as well as the entire Congregation extend our deepest sympathy to Deb and the family.

As you know, Pastor has waged a courageous battle with cancer for many months. He no longer suffers or is in pain. The family and all of us grieve, but as the Scriptures assure us, our sorrow is but for a moment, and we who have trusted Christ have hope of eternity together with him and our Lord.

On the one hand we mourn. We also give thanks to Christ, the Chief Shepherd, for His gracious gift of a Pastor and wife whose lives were and are wholly committed to God and exemplify in every way our Savior. We praise God for the significant advances in FBC and its ministries that our Savior has accomplished in the 26 years and 5 months that He allowed Pastor to be our servant-leader. Our church and the global ministry of the Gospel have seen a faithful, valiant soldier promoted to glory. We have surrendered our Pastor and friend to the presence of the Lord and God’s best for him. As Pastor often stated at funerals, we now can echo him by saying, “This morning at the roll call in heaven, Pastor Bradley W. Quick responded, “Present!” I do wonder if he added, “GO BLUE!”

The following information concerning the viewing and funeral/memorial service has been posted by the family on www.caringbridge.org/visit/pastorquick, and on FBC’s web site: www.firstbaptistelyria.org:

“Visitation is Monday 1:00pm to 3:30pm & 6:00pm to 9:00pm and the Memorial Service is Tuesday evening at 7:00pm (All are invited)”.

Any updates will be provided on these sites and in announcements at the Sunday services.

Please continue to pray for Deb and the family in these days. They need God’s grace for each day and our tender loving care. Pray as well for FBC and its ministries as we mourn, but also as we continue to trust God for what has for us in the days ahead. We can firmly believe that with the strong foundation the Lord used Pastor to build during his ministry here, that the Lord has great things in store for FBC and its ministries in the days ahead as He tarries. As Pastor taught and so ably modeled for us, we must continue to be about Christ’s work in Great Commission ministry, in our individual lives, our families and our corporate Worship, Outreach, Discipleship and Fellowship. To do so is to obey and is pleasing to the Lord and it will continue to honor Pastor and Deb and their ministry among us.

Be assured of our continued prayers for you.
Yours through Christ,
The Pastors and Deacons of First Baptist Church – Philippians 4:13
